I hear you can put Dyna,Softail etc, pipes .. on an FXR if you make brackets. Has anyone done this? If so can I see some pics of the brackets you made/used and pics of the pipes you used? Thanks I have been thinking about putting some V&H on mine. Thanks again

An evo motor is an evo motor as far as how the pipes bolt to the heads, it's the other brackets that make the difference. If you have the ability to fabricate brackets you sure as shit can make them work. They gotta bolt to the rubber mounted motor and not the frame, but it's plenty doable.

Depends on the pipe...
Some Softail pipes will fit, some won't. Depends on the type and the bends. About the only way to be sure, is to test fit if ya can... I paid $100.00 for a 2-into-1 (SuperTrapp) made for a Dyna at a swap-meet. Thought it would fit my 1987 FXR, got it home and its a no-go. Front tube hits the down-tube and the megaphone sticks out about 12-inches from the swing-arm at the tip... I've been runnin' a 2-into-1 that I picked up a swap-meet several years ago. No idea what its "Supposed" to fit. But, it does fit my FXR perfectly. Just had to flip the rear mount (on the transmission) from the "true-duals" and use a 3-inch P-Clamp... You might be able to get an idea from this picture how I did the mount...

My 2-1 Vance and Hines mounts in two places- to the normal front mount bracket, and to the right passenger peg. If you mount anything to a "rigid" part of the frame, use some kind of rubber isolator. The rear mount for the exhaust on my bike went to a big rubber doughnut on the right rear of the frame.
![]() This is when I frst got it, you can see the doughnut a lot easier. This was a Cycle-Shack 2-1. Very LOUD ![]()
