I KNOW THIS HAS GONE ON BEFORE, BUT I NEED A QUICK REFRESHER. kICKSTARTING IF SHE DON'T GO I GET A PUFF OF SMOKE OUT OF THE CARB. IS THIS TOO ADVANCED OR TOO RETARDED? TOO RICH OR TOO LEAN? tHANKS IN ADVANCE, JOHN.

If its doing most of the time, it might be to far advanced but usually will kick over harder and want to kick back on you

This happens to me from time to time. usually if it's "luke warm". With mine if it's cold I gotta prime it and turn the enrichener on and then she kicks fairly easy. If it's warmed up then I can just kick it as soon as I turn the key on. No priming no enrichener. When it's luke warm, I'm still learning the crap shoot. Do I use the enrichener or not? Usually when I do, that's when I get a "bloop" sound and a puff of smoke out the carb. I treat it likes it's flooded. Clear the carb out and restart my kicking procedure, this time with the enrichener "off" or down. Usually works.

Too lean or too advanced.
If your timing is on, clear it as Trav indicates and start over. If mine does this when cold, it usually needs more fuel. |

I hate that "bloop" sound. I have yet to figure out a good procedure to kick mine. Guess it hasn't been back together long enough

It's funny how determined you get to learn your kicking procedure when your starter goes out and it takes 20 minutes at a gas station to kick it over.
Mine went out in Nov. Now that I learned my dance.... for the most part, I ain't in any hurry to fix it.
