The V2 Evolution engine introduced on many Big Twin Models. The new engine is more oil-tight and maintenance-free, lighter in weight, cooler running, and more powerful.
Bill Davidson, Willie G.'s son, joins the company, overseeing the National Demo Ride Program.
Bill Davis, an independent engineer, designed and built the suspension layout for the Model FXST Softail.
H-D wins California Highway Patrol contract; 155 motorcycles ordered.
H-D sells 131 Model FXRP Police Special to California Highway Patrol at $4,393 each.
H-D receives a U.S. Navy contract for production of gunshell casings.
